Mark Stacey spent around 30 years as a freelance book illustrator, specialising in history, specifically military history.
In his more recent work, he has focused on painting and drawing figures and landscapes.
His paintings aim to capture the atmosphere, spirit or presence of various places, rather than depict them with strict accuracy.
His paintings are created in his studio in South East Cornwall, working from drawings done on location, photographs, memory and imagination.
