Sara Owen

Oil Paint

Sara is an abstract painter involved with colour, form and chance, where the edges meet.  She uses drawings, in pencil and ink, that change and evolve, often made in the landscape around, or small details of stones, patterns, doodles. Her paintings express her memories and responses to things seen, things done.

She trained at Wimbledon School of Art, and has visited Cornwall for 43 years, living in Cornwall for 12 years.

Sara Owen creates complex and powerful abstract oil paintings that convey an exquisite tension between atmospheric gestural marks and pure geometric structures. Sara loves the physical act of painting and combines classical techniques with an uninhibited ability to capture atmosphere. Sara works from her studio in Cornwall and is influenced by the countryside around her. She also works in pastels and makes prints and highly individual artist’s books.
