We are inviting artists, professional and amateurs to take part in Bodmin, Squared, an open exhibition at Bodmin Gallery & Creative Studio during FLAMM Festival weekend. This contemporary art festival will run over Saturday 28th Feb - Sunday 1st March 2026 https://flamm.creativekernow.org.uk/

We are keen to participate and give more creative people an opportunity to get involved. So, Bodmin Squared is conceived to present work in an open exhibition in the Gallery from a free-to-submit, free-to-attend open call, bringing together small, square works, maximum size 20 x 20 cm, by artists and amateurs, presented side by side without attribution.

The theme for the artworks is " Bodmin - a Place you know”. Our message to artists is " If your work is connected to Bodmin in a way that matters to you, it belongs in Bodmin, Squared."

During Flamm weekend, visitors are invited to spend time looking and, should they wish to make a purchase, all works to be offered at the same fixed price. There will be no obligation to purchase, and anyone can come and view the artwork with no admission charge.

By submitting, you are donating your artwork for sale, with all proceeds supporting Bodmin Revival’s ongoing creative and cultural activity in the town. Unsold pieces must be collected after the weekend (with a clear agreed collection window). FLAMM is a time-limited pop-up show, so everything is collected at the end (with exceptions only by prior agreement).

Participation in Bodmin, Squared is open to contributors aged 16 and over. This age limit is in place because the exhibition is a public event involving the sale of artwork, the handling of payments, and contributor agreements. It also helps ensure appropriate safeguarding and consent arrangements for all participants.

All forms of practice are welcome- painting, prints, textile, drawing, photography, pastels, ceramics, glass, sculpture - there is no expectation of a particular medium, style, or approach. Pieces do not need to be framed but they need to be presented so that they are protected for display. We recommend a board backing and plastic sleeve.

Guidelines for 3D pieces:

  • Max size: 20cm x 20cm x 20cm (a “20cm cube”) including any base/stand/plinth.

  • Footprint: must sit within 20cm x 20cm and be self-supporting (no fixing into walls unless pre-agreed).

  • Weight & safety: stable, not top-heavy, no sharp edges, no loose glitter/powders, and robust enough for a busy weekend setting.

  • Fragile pieces: welcome, but the maker should provide a suitable display solution (e.g., a small base/stand) and clear handling instructions.

The exhibition is proposed to run from Friday 28 February to Saturday 1 March10am–4pm, at Bodmin Gallery & Creative Studio on Fore Street. Works must be submitted and delivered to the Gallery by Friday 21st February.

Please note: All submitted work will be publicly displayed as part of Bodmin, Squared. By taking part, contributors confirm that their work is suitable for a general public audience.  We reserve the right not to display work that includes:

  • Hate speech or discriminatory content

  • Explicit sexual content

  • Content intended to harass, threaten, or harm

  • Material that is unlawful or unsafe

This decision will be made at the discretion of the organisers.
