We are delighted to welcome jewellery maker, Monique Jeffrey Jones to the Gallery and have a selection of pieces from her Hawks Tor, Orb and Moorland collections, affordably priced from £40 - £120.
Monique draws inspiration from the ancient rock formations found on Bodmin Moor. Her jewellery echoes its large granite boulders and outcrops of stones, their asymmetrical forms and toppling shapes. Working in sterling silver, she combines polished surfaces with oxidised gunmetal finishes. Vitreous enamel and carefully chosen gemstones feature in her collection, adding moments of colour and contrast. Ideas often begin with drawings or photographs taken at source; these are progressed through a series of design sketches and often trialled in copper first before final construction in silver.
The Hawks Tor collection, inspired by the Tor and hill near Blisland on Bodmin Moor features oxidised silver with some gold plated pieces .

The Moorland Collection features gold claws, enamel faces , oxidised silver and genstones.

The Orb Collection also features oxidised silver and gemstones

Monique has always been drawn to the applied arts and decoration. Initially studing theatre design, she started her creative career as a scenic artist designing sets, painting scenery and making props. Having swapped her six-inch paintbrush to tiny tweezers and magnifying glasses she embarked on an Honours Degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery at Truro College. Since graduating Monique enjoys making work that intrigues and delights.
Monique is a member of the Guild of Enamellers and has been supported by the Graduate Start-Up programme delivered by Cultivator Cornwall. She chose to bring her family up in Cornwall and has been living here for 22 years.
