We are always thrilled when we welcome another artist into the Gallery and we are especially happy when that artist is just embarking on their creative journey. So when local bodywork therapiist, Hannah, came into the Gallery to show us her drawings we were excited to work with her.
Her incredible geometric drawings , using just pen and alcohol marker, are all unique and intricately crafted. They have not been created using a computer, they are all hand drawn.
These photographs do not do them justice as it is difficult to show the perfect precision Hannah achieves with her work.

Hannah describes her work and inspiration
I started drawing a few years ago because I wanted some art to put on my wall and I found mandalas and geometric patterns really beautiful, so I began blending the two gradually. I found the process really meditative and therapeutic for the mind. One of the most enjoyable parts of the process for me is not knowing how the artwork will turn out until it is completed, it evolves as I do it and the whole process involves visually balancing the piece as I go, in that sense the piece kind of draws itself.
I find a connection with the fractal nature of the universe, the cosmos, nature and the human body in the drawings and I feel there is an energetic connection to all of these things. I work with the body and in particular the fascia - a fractal network of fibres that connects every aspect of us together and I think this has been an influence. I believe this extends beyond the human body and to the far reaches of the cosmos connecting every single aspect of human existence and consciousness together. So I’d say my inspiration comes from within and without and not anything tangible or easy to describe.
There is an energetic and healing aspect to the drawings when you look into them and they are both calming and energising at the same time. Energy portals for healing some people have said, but I’ll leave that for you to decide."
